Jay Swaminarayan; Shraddh is really important I would say for many reasons! We have to pay back our debts the same way we pay back debts of god and we have to respect all our ancestors did and their struggle of continuing the family. We have to thank them for overcoming their struggles in life because we wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for them! In Shrimad Bhagvatgita 1.42 it says that due to non performance of Shraddh and such rituals the deceased ancestor has to reside in hell. We must also follow this ritual because it is in our Hindu dharma. I think we must and should perform Sharddh for all these reasons! Jay Swaminarayan

Without our ancestors, we wouldn't have known about Maharaj and Swami and we wouldn't be making Maharaj and Swami Raji. Our ancestors made us and helped make satsang. Satsang is great. It means Good Company and our ancestors had great friendships that got passed down until us and we got great friends too. We should thank our ancestors because without them I wouldn't be alive today

Jai Swaminarayan We should honour our ancestors because of many reasons. Firstly because their values and traditions have been passed on through generations and as new things are brought into our lives, our values have always been there because of them. Secondly we can take the example of the Guru Parampara. The top swami is Bhagwan himself and his values were passed onto generations and then to Bapa in present. Ancestral beliefs and traditions play an important part in our lives as it motivates us to always excel in life no matter what the circumstances are. To keep up with the values, traditions and sanskar we should think about their difficulties in life and get inspired. Listen and talk to your parents about them. Ask questions because that's what is going to help us carry on their values that they put forth in our lives. Their beliefs should not be neglected but understood and in that way we can proceed with their sanskars. We all are Bapa'sadarshbalaks and we must cherish our ancestors and honour them. The reason it is important to honour our ancestors is because in Hindu tradition we do shraadh so our ancestors souls can attain peace but in our sanstha we do shraadh because when we think of our ancestors good swabhavs and "guns" we believe we get those virtues in ourself. Our Indian culture, customs, beliefs etc. are slowly fading away as the world is moving ahead and all this things are considered old fashioned. Our ancestors were hard working ,tolerant and compassionate.to show our gratitude and honor a shraadh is arranged. We should never neglect our culture and follow our culture. Jai swaminarayan we should celebrate shraddh because then we can remember our ancestors and you can also learn values from them. We can preserve their shraddh by praying to them we can also make pictures of them. Few days ago it was one of our gurus akshardhamgaman day it was shastrijimaharajs. Even though he lived long ago we still celebrate and remember his shraddh because he did things that changed peoples lives like making mandirs, finding Baps and also liberating people. I think it it is important to honor our ancestors so we can carry on their traditions and religious beliefs. To keep their values alive today, we can pray for them, go to the temple, go to other cultural/religious functions and teach our children what our parent are teaching us. Also pray for good luck.
