    Favorite Prasang of our Guru

Favorite Prasang of our Guru

A great source of prasangs and information are books! By reading the Jivan Charitras or the Satsang Exam books, we can further our knowledge and mahima for both the Sanstha and our gurus. What is one of your favorite prasangs from any of our gunatit gurus’ lives?

My favorite prasang is when gunatitanand swami stood in the rain waiting for shreeji maharaj to return even though it was raining hard even muktanand swmi told him to come inside but he did not and once he saw him he fell asleep happily under a tree.

IN HONOUR AND INSULT It was 6.50 pm on 20 July 1985, London. The day every devotee had been eagerly awaiting for months. Final preparations for the Suvarna Tula festival at Queens Park Rangers stadium were over. The festival atmosphere was charged with excitement, and when Swamishri arrived, the congregation of 17,000 devotees chorused, “Pramukh Swami Maharaj ni Jai.” The thunderous ‘jais’ echoed the magnitude and feelings for the divine occasion. The festival climaxed when Pramukh Swami Maharaj took Harikrishna Maharaj and sat on a giant scale for the Suvarna Tula. Then, one by one, the devotees placed packets of sugar on the empty scale, which in turn were later weighed against gold. The ambience of devotion was elevating as the mellifluous Vedic mantras chanted by the sadhus filled the air. The reverence offered to Swamishri was a celebration of honour and pride to not only the devotees of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya alone, but to all Hindus and well-wishers of Indian culture. And amidst this outpouring of faith, Pramukh Swami Maharaj remained equipoised and absorbed in the murti of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. After this grand, divine celebration, Swamishri became immersed in reading letters from devotees while his car left the stadium. Within seconds, Swamishri had forgotten the honour bestowed upon him. The grand Suvarna Tula festival, the impressive Queens Park Rangers stadium and the thunderous applause of devotees had not overwhelmed him one bit. The very next day, there occurred a contrasting incident. A person came to see Pramukh Swami Maharaj at the Akshar Purushottam Mandir in London. Rage and anger were writ large on his face. Some misunderstanding had distorted his attitude and inflamed his countenance. He started uttering foul language before Swamishri. His uncouth words and insults incensed the sadhus and youths sitting in the room. But Swamishri was unruffled. There was not a trace of anger on his face and no bitter feeling in his heart. Like an idol of compassion and forgiveness, he merely listened and suppressed any counter reactions from those sitting in the room. After exhausting his rage, the person became silent. Swamishri instructed the attendants, “See that he is served lunch before he leaves.” Swamishri can forget the grand honour accorded to him in moments, and also forgive and forget the insult rained on him in seconds! He accepts honour and insult with equanimity.

Yogiji Maharaj Snake bite prasang in Gondal. It always reminds me that Swaminarayan Mahamantra eradicates all the pain and problems of our lives. It also reminds us that Akshar Deri is a truly sanctified place. Also it reflects Yogi Bapa's dedication, strong belief and trust in his Guru and Lord Swaminarayan. This incident holds me up, whenever I feel helpless Swaminarayan Dhun fills in the positive energy and vibes and helps me to rise again. Jai swaminarayan.

Jay Swaminarayan My favorite prasang is when... Yogiji Maharaj was going to another place by train and He was singing a dhoon. There were 3 people playing cards. they said,"Can you stop your singing? It's annoying!" So then Yogiji Maharaj started singing in His mind. After a while, they had reached the station. The 3 people had to reach the back station. So they needed to pay a fine as well as they needed to go in a train to go in another station. Then one of the haribhakt said,"Luckily they got a fine because they didn't let you do the dhoon. Then Yogiji Maharaj said,"Don't say that. We need to learn from them. Just like they were playing so concentrated playing cards, we need to be so concentrated doing bhakti.

I can remember vividly about the parasang that had took place in the year 1971 in dharmaj. The day marked 51st birthday of pramukh swami maharaj. The celebration was to last for 11 days.Everyone was at celebratory mood.Every morning, there were spiritual discourses and bhajans in the satsang assembly.finally, the awaited day had finally arrived which marked the 51st birthday of pramukh swami maharaj. That morning, swami bapa got up at his usual time. He sat on a wooden platform and started brushing his teeth with a babul stick. Suddenly he then noticed used datans lying on the ground. Without uttering any word he got up and gathered the used datans and put them into the dustbin.Swami bapa was so fast that no one noticed about it.Wow!that's amazing.for swami bapa, seva was his life no matter what.indeed, that was little seva on a big day.

Jay Swaminarayan! My favorite prasang is when bapa had picked up the used brushes of haribhakts on the day of his Birthday! And the whole city (where bapa was) was waiting for him to come to give darshan. But here, bapa was picking all that used brushes which haribhakt had thrown in a bulk after use.

Wembley, England. On 25 May 1970, in the morning at around 11:45 am, in the Methodist Church hall, where we conducted satsang sabhas at the time, Yogiji Maharaj said: “In Africa, everyone says ‘we want to go to the UK.’ But one cannot go without a passport. In the same way, if you want to go to Akshardham, you will need a stamp [in your passport]. Without it, we won’t let you in. And when can you get Shriji Maharaj’s stamp? When you receive the [true] sant’s rajipo. Without it, you won’t get the [visa] stamp. If Mahant Swami gives you that stamp, then even up till Prakruti Purush, no one will stop you. We already have the passport. Don’t think you don’t have it. So, associate with us.”

I have a favorite prasang of mine which is from Yogi Bapa's life. Once some devotees from Bhavnagar asked Shastriji Maharaj if he could come to one of their homes. Shastriji Maharaj answered that Jogi would come to Bhavnagar. They asked Jnanjivandas Swami (Yogi Bapa) if he could come and Yogi Bapa accepted their request. When they were in Bhavnagar they all made food for Maharaj. They did the thal with devotion, even Yogi Bapa who sang thal with pure devotion from within his heart, the haribhaktos  prepared food in the most devoted way they could because they wanted Maharaj to eat the food. When the thal was finished there was a lot of food eaten by Maharaj. This was the devotion of Yogi Bapa
