    Steps Towards a Goal

Steps Towards a Goal

Think about a skill you want to master or a goal you wish to achieve. It could be things like learning piano, speaking a new language, excelling in a sport, or painting a masterpiece.

But reaching a goal isn’t always easy. It takes planning, practice, and patience. If you create an action plan and take regular small steps, your goal can become achievable.

What is a skill or goal that you are working towards? Which steps will you take to make sure you reach the finish line?

Jay Swaminarayan! I have many skills I want to achieve and have already started. One is playing Tabla. It is hard, but my teacher helps me. He tells me to practice, so every day I practice 30 minutes to an hour. Another skill I want is to memorize all 315 Satsang Diksha shlokas in Sanskrit by heart before Diwali. I am very close to finishing like my friends. I had to practice a lot, put in my best effort, and be patient. Every day after school, I sit for 1 hour to do 2–3 shlokas. These are my goals, and I know I will achieve them.

My goal is to learn French. I want to learn this language because it is spoken in many countries, and it will help me travel, understand new cultures, and talk to more people. To reach this goal, I will study a little every day using apps, watch French videos, and listen to French podcasts. I plan to learn at least 10 new words each week and practice speaking, even if I make mistakes. I know learning a language takes time, patience, and effort, but I am ready for the challenge. With small steps and daily practice, I will improve and become confident in French. One day, I hope to have a real conversation in French and maybe even visit a French-speaking country.

A skill that I am trying to learn is lampworking. Lampworking is melting down long glass sticks and shaping them into whatever you want! One day, I hope I can make roses and jewelry that Thakorji can hold. I will learn this skill by giving myself small goals and also a big final deadline—where I have to make a certain trinket no matter what. In my schedule, I will also put flex days in case I can’t practice some days. With time and good planning, I hope I can become really good at lampworking.
