Divine incidents from Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s life

Purna Purushottam Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s life is full of divine incidents. He performed several miracles for the good of people. He is the Supreme Godhead. That is why his lilas have to be broadcast. He had given several messages to make people lead a discipline and addiction-free lives. He reformed many people who were leading wicked lives.

By citing the examples from the lives of ideal devotees he gave immense joy and led His devotees to Akshardham. Bhagwan’s birthday falls on samvat 1837, chaitra sud 9 (2 April, 1781).

Young friends let us all remember His divine lilas and let us worship Him. Among His several divine lilas which one do you like best and why?

One of the prasangs from Bhagwan Swaminarayan's life that I, by far, love the most is the one where the little boy from a small village had gotten a watermelon for Maharaj from his own garden. Boy was it a long walk from his village to Maharaj. On the way, he kept having thoughts about eating the watermelon. Even though these thoughts came to him, the desire of giving Maharaj his watermelon was over powering. Finally he came to Maharaj and gave him the watermelon. Know how much mind & physical effort this boy had put in to give Maharaj this watermelon, he gave the boy 1 Kilo of Sakar. Seeing this, a greedy house holder came to Maharaj the next day bringing a cart load of watermelons. Now, he would expect to get a cartload of Sakar back, but in return got the following quote: "Feed the melons to the fish!" This prasang symbolizes how Maharaj is fair to everyone, whether it be a poor little boy or a wealthy householder!

I like the one Nilkanth Varni is with the lion by the tree because you can see him daring. How? I will tell you. Once there was village called Shripur.  Nilkanth Varni was resting  there. Suddenly  the Mahant came out telling Nilkanth if you want to spend the night then spend it in the Mandir or in the village. there is a lion that comes every night here and if there is a man or cow standing here it will never see morning. Then Nilkanth said that will death not strike in the mandir! The Mahant was amazed he knew that this was not an ordinary boy. He never forced him after that. He then went inside the Mandir. He opened the window to look and the lion approached. NilkanthVarni raised his hand and the lion was calm. Nilkanth then said come here on top to the lion. All night the lion stayed calm. In the morning Nilkanth raised his hand and put on top of the lion's head and said go friend. Once the lion went the Mahant bowed at Nilkanth's feet and then said you are the Mahant of the Mandir and I'm your servant. Nilkanth then said I have not left home to be a Mahant of a Mandir I still have a lot of work to do

One Lila i love about Bhagwan Swaminarayan is when he tamed the lion on his pilgrimage. I thought that is very cool how he can tame a lion. But he is Purna-purshottam Narayan. Jai Swaminarayan

My favorite divine lila is the one with Joban Pagi, when he tried to steal Maharaj's horse. It goes like this: Joban Pagi was a very bad mad who everyone was afraid of. One day he decided to steal Maharaj's Manki Ghodi (horse). He saw that Maharaj was doing a katha and saw it was his chance to steal the horse and he went to where Manki Ghodi was. When he got there he saw Maharaj there with Manki Ghodi and wondered how he was there and at the katha. He tried to steal the horse many nights after that but could never do it because he always saw Maharaj there. Then he went up to Maharaj and told him everything. I like this one so much because it shows that Maharaj is all knowing and you can never do anything without him knowing. It was also magical how Maharaj was there and at the katha. I think that is what made me like it the most, to see how great he really was. From this I have learned that Maharaj is Sakar and he knows everything.

The Prasang of Berkha with Brahmanand Swami Once maharaj passed the rule that one who will sleep in sabha, maharaj will throw berkha to him. Once brahmanand swami was sleeping, maharaj saw that and threw berkha to him. Maharaj asked brahmanad swami "what are you doing?" Brahmanand swami told maharaj "I am creating a kirtan". Maharaj told him to sing that kirtan and brahmand swami started singing. Taro chatak rangilo chedlo albela re.. Moral : One should have god in mind anytime.

Jai swaminarayan. my best maharaj`s divine lila was when maharaj transformed jobanpagi to a satsangi. this is the best lila because maharaj had never talked bad things about any person. maharaj had equality for everyone. same thing goes to pramukh swami maharaj, even he has equality for everyone. that`s why we say " BAPA EK PARIVAR "

There are many prasangs of bhagwan, I like them all. If I had to choose from one of his prasangs. i would choose the one where Ghanshyam maharaj is playing hide and seek with his friends. Maharaj hides in a very difficult spot and no one can find him. Then his friend Veni spots him up high in a tree and asks him to come down. When he does come down he explains to his friends not to worry about him. Then he explains that he will always be at their side in their hearts. This is ONE of my favorite prasangs.

My favorite lila of Bhagwan Swaminarayan would have to be his love for kids. Being a kid myself, I would love for Maharaj to recognize me. This one prasang states that Maharaj saw a young boy coming towards him. However behind the boy was a cobra. Maharaj rushed to grab the snake, knocking the little boy over. Two devotees captured the snake for Maharaj, so Maharaj than walked over to the little boy and comforted him with love and gentleness. He even gave the boy two fresh mangos.

Compassion. His kindness is unbelievable. He even let Joban Pagi go but he made him into a satsangi. There is even a swamini vato that says that even if that person does not do what a satsangi does but takes the swaminarayan mantra we must give him salvation. We must also learn to be compassionate to all creatures. If we be compassionate we can attain akshardham. Some of shriji maharaj's compassion can be read about in "prasang mala". Let us be compassionate and attain akshardham! ;)
