To encourage the development of a healthy lifestyle, discipline, courage, determination, unity and a sportsman’s spirit among children, BAPS centers throughout Gujarat, as well as in Mumbai, Jaipur, Pune, Bangalore and other cities held a Sports Day for Children during January 2014.
Over 35,000 children studying in standards 1 to 8 from over 4,000 BAPS centers enthusiastically participated. The events were well organized and managed by around 4,500 children’s activities volunteers.
The children participated in individual and team competitions: running, obstacle race, relay race, three-legged race, kabadi, kho-kho, slow cycling, leapfrog, volleyball, football, cricket, basketball, lemon and spoon race, musical chairs, chess, carom, table tennis and tug-of-war.
Winners were presented with medals.
