The Balpravrutti Suvarna
Mahotsav (1954-2004) celebrated in February in Akshardham, Gandhinagar,
is currently being celebrated abroad. In April 2004, the Nairobi Bal
Mandal held a “National Bal-Balika Adhivesion”. With its
theme of “Thaiye Yogi Jewa”, 150 bal-balikas from 14 mandals
in Eldoret, Kakamega, Kisumu, Kericho, Nakuru, Mombasa and Nairobi,
gathered in Nairobi.
The adhivesion was divided in two parts : (1) Mukhpath of Vachanamrut,
Swamini Vato and shlok-sakhis. (2) Personality development - painting
and drawing, singing kirtans, story telling and playing musical instruments.
Despite difficulties in reading and writing Gujarati, the efforts of
the sadhus and sanchalaks made the competition a great success. |
