On 2nd April 2005,
Sydney Balmandal celebrated a unique event to imbibe the importance
of Holi within the balaks. This “Holi-Day” was celebrated
through out the day at Parramatta Park- the largest public park in
western Sydney. It was an ideal location for all the days’ activities;
from the location for the Sabha through to the field for sports and
picnic area for the Holi celebrations.
Nearly 60 Bal-Balikas attended this day which began with a short Sabha
in natural surroundings. The balaks learned the importance of the
Holi utsav, its historical beginning, interesting stories and Satsang
prasangs related to Holi.
After Sabha, the balaks
started their sports & games. They played a wide variety of games
including cricket, soccer and poison ball.
Lunch was given at
conclusion of the sport session. The balaks enjoyed fresh hot pizzas
and cold drinks. All Pizzas were prepared at home by members of women’s
wing.
The colorful Holi
games session, the main event of the day, started immediately after
lunch. All bal-Balikas were given water-guns and water bombs full
of colored water. They played a number of coordinated team games for
over 2 hours.
Later in the evening
the colored balaks joyfully departed with lots of memories in their
hearts, team spirit in their minds and understanding of Holi in there
souls. |
