On Friday 2 February 2007, a troupe of 50 children and youths of the BAPS center in Auckland, New Zealand presented a cultural musical ballet entitled “Child Heroes of India” at the Dorothy Winston Centre of Auckland Girl’s Grammar School.

The youngsters had practiced hard for more than two months during their vacations to perfect the presentation. The two-hour long musical ballet in Hindi focused on the eternal messages from the lives of three Child Heroes of India, Shravan, Dhruv and Nachiketa. In spite of their tender age, these inspiring children overcame obstacles in their life through resolute determination, faith and purity of character.

Over 800 people were left mesmerized by the excellent coordination, expressive style, traditional attire, and the breathtaking and scintillating traditional dance routines.

This brilliantly choreographed presentation was performed by 22 balaks, 22 kishores and 6 youths. In addition, 23 volunteers helped backstage with lighting, audio-visual, costumes and set-up of props.

The Kishori Mandal volunteers also contributed by preparing and displaying an informative exhibition on BAPS activities. They also decorated the hall with India’s traditional colours and designs.

The audience was enthralled to see such a collective spirit of dedication and service by youngsters in this day and age.

They felt the dedication was only possible through the inspiration of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
