From the 24 to 26 April 2009 the first national Bal-Balika Camp was held in Auckland based on the theme – ‘Sant – The Walking Shastra’. About 35 balaks and 30 balikas from Christchurch, Wellington, Rotorua and Auckland attended this camp in the presence of Jnanpurush Swami and Adarshmuni Swami.
The children learnt about the essence and the importance of the shastras – the Vachanamrut, Swamini Vato, Ramayan and Mahabharat. Further, the greatness of the Sant, Pramukh Swami Maharaj, who is the embodiment of the shastras was emphasized through various speeches, interesting presentations and workshops.
The children also enjoyed activities such as orienteering, flying fox, abseiling, obstacle courses, team games and sports.
The children enjoyed the shibir experience and left with a greater understanding of the shastras, a deeper appreciation of their principles, an eagerness to learn from daily reading and the conviction that the Sant is the living embodiment of the shastras.
