    BAPS Aussie Sports Day
Adelaide, Australia
21 May 2011

Australia is a country that loves sport – whether it’s at the Commonwealth or Olympic Games, or in any other sport. Millions of people participate at least once a week in sporting activity. To fill this sporting appetite and encourage a healthy lifestyle, BAPS in Adelaide organised its third annual “Aussie” Sports Day on 21 May, 2011 in which over 110 children and youth took part.

The day began with the chief guest for the Sports Day, retired Lt. Gen. Vikran Madan (President of the Indian-Australian Association of South Australia) sharing his thoughts to encourage the children. Along with the participants, he then released commemorative balloons into the sky to mark the start of the sports and games.

Participants took part in competitive sports such as the 50m, 100m and 200m sprints, high jump, long jump and soccer.  The younger children enjoyed games including musical chairs, three-legged race, lemon-spoon race and sack race.  The top participants were awarded with prizes for their efforts.  Pramukh Swami Maharaj continues to inspire all around growth of children through such events promoting sports, health and fitness.
