Bal-Balika Outing 2014
Sydney, Australia
18 October 2014

On Saturday, 18 October 2014, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Sydney, organised a Bal-Balika Outing to the Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh on the New South Wales South Coast. Over 120 balaks and balikas, aged between 6-13 years, attended the outing. They were accompanied by around 35 chaperones.

The day began with registration for all children, followed by a group breakfast at the mandir. After which, the children travelled by bus to the wildlife park, where they spent nearly six hours exploring the animal kingdom with enthusiasm, excitement, fun and a thirst for knowledge. Lunch and snacks were provided during the course of the day.

There was also a special animal show where the children saw a variety of animals up close and learned interesting facts about the various different animals and reptiles at the park including pythons, lizards, possums and a baby crocodile.

A small sabha was also held in the afternoon which emphasised the importance of living harmoniously with and having respect for not just each other but all living creatures. Just before sunset, the children departed from the Wildlife Park to do some sightseeing along the Pacific Ocean on their way back to the mandir.

Throughout the day, children forged new friendships and set a great example of a united group. They all may have come from different family backgrounds and with different interests. But on this day, they all were like one single family, setting a classic demonstration of 'BAPS, Ek Parivar’ to please their guru, Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
