Bal-Balika Sports Day
Canberra, Australia
12 October 2014

Around 25 children aged 4 to 13 years participated in the first ever Bal-Balika Mandal Sports Day organised by BAPS at Lake Ginnindera Park in Canberra on Sunday, 12 October 2014.  The event was aimed to encourage the development of a healthy lifestyle, discipline, courage, determination, unity and a sportsman’s spirit among children. After considering many options, seven special games were selected as they were not only fun, but also tested special skills like concentration, balance, patience, and self-control.  The children participated in individual and team competitions: running, three-legged race, tomato and spoon race, poison ball, musical chairs, bucket ball throw, goal kicking.  The prize ceremony took place during the Ravi Sabha on 19 October 2014 in which all the participants not just the winners were presented with a certificate, a group photo as well as a prize.  The event proved to be a great success with tremendous positive response from not just the participants but also from the parents.  Throughout the event, children forged new friendships and learned the importance of Samp, Suhradbhav and Ekta, aspects which Yogiji Maharaj had taught us and which Pramukh Swami Maharaj practices and preaches with great dedication in his life.
