On Thursday 17th February, the Wellingborough and Milton Keynes Bal-Balika Mandal decided to team up to visit the Bodleian library in Oxford to view the very same Shikshapari that Shreeji Maharaj had given to Sir John Malcolm in Rajkot. At the Indian Institute library the group were met by Dr. Lawson who explained the history and the manner in which the Shikshapatri came into being at Oxford. An unusual occurrence happened at this viewing. The group reiterated to Dr. Lawson the most important shloka in the Shikshapatri - shloka 116: Nijatmanam Brahmarupam… Without a second thought, Dr. Lawson put on a pair of gloves and after carefully handling the Shikshaptri turned the page to that very same shloka. The whole group was able to view the Shikshapatri at leisure and Dr. Lawson was only too pleased to answer any questions on hand. The whole visit lasted well over 90 minutes and after experiencing the good behaviour of the children, Dr. Lawson extended an invitation to the group to visit the Shikshapatri at any time in the future.

Well done to the Wellingborough and Milton Keynes Bal and Balika Karyakars for this creative celebration!
