On
Saturday 19th March 2005, the Bal-Balika Karyakars took from Birmingham
40 balaks and balikas on a visit to the canals in the city centre, and
gave them the opportunity to take a ride on one of the boats down the
canal. For all of the children, it was a unique and fascinating trip
as they had the chance to see the history of Birmingham as well as travel
on the canals, which was a first for many. Little did they realise that
this was also one of the simple ways to strengthen the unity amongst
all the Bal-Balikas. Here are some responses from the children after
the trip:
“It
was the first time I went on a boat. I hope that we can go again soon!”
“It was really good to be with all my friends, and we had a lot
of fun.”
“The
food was lovely!”
All the
parents were very appreciative of all the efforts of the Sanchalaks
who organised the trip and took the balaks and balikas to and from the
canals. |
