    London Bal-Balika Mandal Mandir Yatra
Saturday 24 March 2012

With 2012 being the year of the Kidz Ultimate Challenge (KUC), over 220 bal-balikas and 25 karyakars from across London embarked on an enjoyable and spiritually uplifting journey of BAPS mandirs across England on Saturday 24 March 2012.

The children first visited Luton Mandir, consecrated by Pramukh Swami Maharaj in 2004, where they learnt about the history of the Mandal, stretching back to a visit from Yogiji Maharaj in 1970 and their dedication over the last four decades which culminated in a new mandir. After darshan, all were treated to refreshments and encouraged to visit the mandir again whenever possible.

Wellingborough Mandir is renowned for the Akshar Deri and the children were given the opportunity to perform pradakshinas and offer prayers for Swamishri’s health and for their education and spiritual development. This was followed by an informative insight into the rich history of Wellingborough’s Satsang Mandal and a report of the Bal-Balika Mandal activities currently held there. All were inspired by their visit to such a beautiful mandir and the dedication of the local haribhaktas.

The recently inaugurated Leicester Mandir proved to be an uplifting and motivating visit for the children. Ranging from the impressive structure, to the designs, artistic displays and enchanting murtis, the children were lost for words. A video presentation outlining the mandir’s construction was then shared before an informative tour of the complex and an opportunity for fun and games in the new purpose-built sports hall. All were invited to visit again with their families and friends.

At the mandir in Birmingham, the children were given a talk on the Mandal’s history and Bal-Balika Mandal activities, followed by a sumptuous meal. The children left with a smile on their faces and a warm feeling of unity in their hearts.

All greatly appreciated the warm hospitality offered by the local haribhaktas and karyakars at their respective mandirs, giving further emphasis to the words of Pramukh Swami Maharaj: ‘BAPS – Ek Parivar’. Such visits provide a wonderful opportunity for children across the country to get together. One child summed up the feelings of many who participated in this memorable trip: “I never knew how amazing these mandirs were. It also opened up my eyes to how others do Satsang around the country and that was really inspiring. I would love to visit them again!”
