There is one mantra in the world today that has liberated thousands. It’s power is limitless and there is nothing comparable to it in the entire universe. That mantra is none other than the Swaminarayan mantra.
Shriji Maharaj was once in Kariyani. He was on his way from his residence to meet Vasta Khachar, the town’s darbar. His face shone brightly as he moved about, looking illustrious.
Along the way, he ran into an old woman who was playing with her grandson before her home. The baby boy was beautiful. He was round and chubby and his face beamed with joy. His forehead was decorated with a tilak-chandlo, and his neck with a kanthi. And the word Swaminarayan was on his lips. “Swaminarayan… Swaminarayan…” he delightfully chanted.
The old woman was overjoyed to hear his grandson chant Maharaj's name “Oh, my!” she exclaimed. “You know not the greatness of the name you speak. The name Swaminarayan has the power to relieve a person from thousands of lives worth of sin and misery. It has the power to free a person from the cycle of births and deaths. And anyone who chants it is guaranteed a spot in Akshardham.”
Maharaj was pleased to hear the old woman’s words. He then came to Vasta Khachar's darbar. There he turned to Vasta Khachar and told him about the old woman. “I wish to grant her moksha,” he said. “She understands the greatness of my name like none other.”
