Parvatbhai was a devotee of Shriji Maharaj who lived over 200 years ago. He was always meditating and offering his devotion to God. Parvatbhai had a constant connection with Maharaj. He knew that Maharaj was the supreme God. It was because of his dedication, love and sacrifices that Parvatbhai eventually became one of the most famous devotees of Maharaj. We still remember him today because of his understanding of Satsang and his deep devotion to Shriji Maharaj.
On one occasion, Parvatbhai was working on the farm. At noon, he stopped ploughing and started offering thal in his mind to Maharaj. Seeing this, a ploughman thought Parvatbhai was dozing and so he prodded him with a stick. When he came closer he saw curd had rolled down from Parvatbhai’s empty hands. The ploughman was surprised to see the curd appear out of nowhere. When he asked where it came from, Parvatbhai replied, “I was mentally offering Maharaj curd and cooked rice. You prodded me at the very instant I was offering the curd and so it rolled off my hands.”
Parvatbhai’s devotion and love for Maharaj was limitless. Every moment was dedicated to Maharaj. Maharaj also felt tremendous love for Parvatbhai.
Once, Maharaj decided to serve the Kathis a delicious lunch at Parvatbhai’s home. As everyone sat down, Maharaj came out with a big bowl of ghee. Upon seeing this, Parvatbhai requested Maharaj to serve as much ghee as he could. During that time, ghee was very expensive. People would try to limit their use of ghee. However, Parvatbhai wanted Maharaj to use it freely for the Kathis. Maharaj obeyed his wish and filled each bowl to the brim and only when they said ‘Stop!’ would Maharaj move on to the next person. But Maharaj never stopped the flow of ghee. Seeing this divine lila made Parvatbhai dance with joy. He declared, “Oh! This moment is so divine. Never has Maharaj done something like this!” He felt so lucky.
Parvatbhai’s love for Maharaj was endless. We too should strive for this connection with Maharaj and Swami. We can start by following some of the basic niyams Swamishri has given us, like studying hard, respecting our parents, and attending Bal/Balika sabha regularly. Only by doing this can we develop a special bond like Parvatbhai!
