Loj was a very good town. The town’s people were kind and would donate food and resources to the mandir to the best of their ability. The town also had many people who were poor and needed help. Merciful Shriji Maharaj could not bear to see the hardship of those who were less fortunate and wanted to help. But, he also had to make sure there were enough grains to at least sustain the mandir at a bare minimum before any extra grains and resources could be given away.
The challenge was there was not enough grains to feed the poor and hungry people and sustain the mandir. To make things more complicated, the whole region started to see signs of a drought. It seemed that not only humans but animals too would suffer without any sources of food or water.
During that time, a devotee by the name of Parvatbhai came for Shriji Maharaj’s darshan. On meeting Maharaj, Parvatbhai sensed some concern in Maharaj’s voice. As any good devotee would do, he asked, “What is upsetting you Maharaj?” Maharaj explained to Parvatbhai the situation in Loj. After a while Parvatbhai understood the town’s dire situation. Parvatbhai left Loj deeply touched by what Maharaj had told him. He went straight to his village, Agatrai. Then he started gathering whatever grains, corn and other such rations he had in his house. One by one he filled up as many bags of rations as he could. He managed to collect 6,400 kg of rations and filled up 10 bullock carts. Then, he drove to Loj. Even the bullocks seemed excited to fulfil Maharaj’s wish, just as Parvatbhai was trying to do. When they arrived in Loj, Parvatbhai went to Maharaj and told him what he had brought so that he would know what was available to distribute to the needy. Shriji Maharaj was delighted by Parvatbhai’s timely service.
Seeing such immense devotion from one of his disciples, Shriji Maharaj shed tears of joy and happiness. He asked Parvatbhai, “Why did you decide to do such an amazing thing?” Parvatbhai humbly replied, “Maharaj, I could not bear to hear such worry in your voice. You’ve done so much for us and have given us more than we can imagine. Giving whatever I have to make you happy is my duty to you. I will always give you whatever you ask for. These rations are yours and I am here to give them to you.”
Maharaj tenderly asked Parvatbhai, “But… have you left anything for your children?”
“Maharaj, my children and family are never hungry. We can fill our stomachs by eating even leftovers. So, don’t worry about us.”
Upon hearing these selfless words, Maharaj hugged Parvatbhai and blessed him. Seeing this special relationship all the devotees and even sadhus bowed to him out of love and respect.
