In Vachanamrut Gadhada III-38, Shriji Maharaj says, “This manifest form of Purushottam Bhagwan is the controller of all, including Akshar. He is the lord of all the ishwars and the cause of all causes. He reigns supreme and he is the cause of all of the avatars.”
This statement refers to Shriji Maharaj himself, who is supreme and above all else.
When Nilkanth Varni was travelling throughout India, he came to Loj, a village in Gujarat. He decided to stay at the ashram of Ramanand Swami after seeing the disciplined and spiritual lives of the sadhus there. At that time, Ramanand Swami was touring Bhuj. Mayaram Bhatt went to Bhuj to give Ramanand Swami news of Nilkanth’s arrival and to deliver Muktanand Swami’s letter. Overjoyed by the news, Ramanand Swami insisted that everyone go to Loj to have the darshan of Nilkanth Varni.
Instead of going to Loj, Lalji Suthar of Shekhpat went to Bhuj to see Ramanand Swami.
“Why did you come here?” Ramanand Swami asked.
Lalji Suthar replied, “A few days ago when Mayaram Bhatt was going to Loj with your letters, he halted at Shekhpat for the night. He informed me that a Varni has arrived in Loj and he is greater than you. I wanted to let you know in person that Mayaram is falsely praising the greatness of Nilkanth Varni using your name.”
On hearing this Ramanand Swami told him, “Why did you come here at all? I sent word to all concerned through Mayaram to go for Varni’s darshan in Loj. Why, then, didn’t you go to Loj?”
But Lalji was not satisfied. He asked, “Swami, how great is Nilkanth? Is he as great as Dattatrey, Rishabhdev or Ramchandraji?”
Ramanand Swami calmly replied, “They are all great, and Shri Krishna is greater than all of them. However Nilkanth Varni is the greatest of them all. He is the incarnation of all incarnations. However much we may extol his greatness, it will be inadequate. Even the greatest of yogis and munis meditate on him. Now, go to Loj and have the darshan of Nilkanth and pay your respects to him.”
We must always remember that Shriji Maharaj is supreme Bhagwan. He is the one and only God. He is Purushottam and there is no one like him.
