If we do this without any hesitation, we will become ideal devotees of our guru and live our lives as happily as Yogiji Maharaj.

Have you ever wondered why Yogiji Maharaj is always smiling or laughing? Well, Yogiji Maharaj dedicated his whole life to his guru, Shastriji Maharaj. Everything that Yogiji Maharaj did was according to Shastriji Maharaj’s agna. This pleased Shastriji Maharaj, and so he showered his blessings on Yogiji Maharaj. So, since Yogiji Maharaj’s guru was happy with him, he was happy. Never did he hesitate in doing what Shastriji Maharaj asked and never did he do anything for himself. Such was the love, dedication, devotion and respect that Yogiji Maharaj had for his guru.

Yogiji Maharaj would become extremely happy when he heard Shastriji Maharaj calling his name. So much so, that even if he was eating, he would drop his food and run to fulfil Shastriji Maharaj’s agna.

Once, as a result of doing hard work all day long, Yogiji Maharaj developed a hernia which required surgery. Shastriji Maharaj, other sadhus and devotees came to the hospital to see Yogiji Maharaj. Upon seeing Shastriji Maharaj, Yogiji Maharaj was overcome with joy. Shastriji Maharaj blessed Yogiji Maharaj and then the doctors performed the surgery. After the surgery, Yogiji Maharaj was brought back to his room. When Yogiji Maharaj woke up, he saw Shastriji Maharaj sitting in front of him, smiling. Right away Yogiji Maharaj folded his hands with respect. Then, in a low voice, he asked the devotee sitting nearby, “Has milk been served to Shastriji Maharaj?” Everyone present in the room, including the doctor, wondered, “This Yogi must have been in a divine trance. Only then is it possible to remember the guru after waking up from surgery.”

As Shastriji Maharaj’s personal attendant in Gondal, Yogiji Maharaj served him milk and medicine daily. So when Yogiji Maharaj awoke after his surgery, his first thought was his seva for his guru. As seen in this incident, Yogiji Maharaj’s devotion to his guru was indeed complete and pure.

From the day Yogiji Maharaj first met Shastriji Maharaj, he obeyed every command of Shastriji Maharaj lovingly and instantly. Even after Shastriji Maharaj returned to Akshardham, Yogiji Maharaj continued to follow the agnas Shastriji Maharaj had given him. We can learn so much from Yogiji Maharaj’s life of ideal devotion to his guru. We too should follow agnas that our guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj has given us. If we do this without any hesitation, we will become ideal devotees of our guru and live our lives as happily as Yogiji Maharaj.
