A Young Boy’s Request

“Swami! Please come to my village!”

Fifteen-year-old Ganesh, who lived in a small village of Kankrawadi near Viramgam, was holding Swamishri’s feet. He repeatedly requested him to visit his home, in 1977. There were no other satsangis in his village, and Swamishri’s programme was already full. But Ganesh’s faith and love made Swamishri promise him that he would come.

Finally, the day arrived.

At sunset, Swamishri’s car entered the village of Kankrawadi. Ganesh danced with joy.
The village was very small, All the huts, except one, were made of mud and straw. Swamishri finally came to Ganesh’s mud-hut. There was no electricity, no toilet and no bathroom in his house. Later at night, Swamishri held a Satsang sabha outside his house, with light from kerosene lamps. It was a hot summer evening.

Swamishri was to sleep on the terrace of a neighbour’s house. Like everyone else, he slept on a mattress on the floor.

Next morning, Swamishri did padharamani in a few houses. He then held a sabha. After lunch, Swamishri had a nap in Ganesh’s hut. Despite the afternoon heat and without ventilation, Swamishri slept soundly.

Even today, Ganesh vividly remembers Swamishri’s divinity.
