December
1971. The village of Dharmaj, Gujarat, hosted the 51st Birthday Celebration
of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
The 11-day celebration included morning and evening katha and bhajans.
Famous sadhus and scholars from India, honoured Swamishri and praised
his virtues.
On the morning of Swamishri’s 51st birthday he was brushing his
teeth with a datan. He noticed the used datans thrown away carelessly
nearby. He did not say anything to anyone. After brushing his teeth
Swamishri went into the bathroom. After everyone left he came out and
collected the used datans. He threw them into the dustbin and swept
the area tidily.
Thousands of devotees
awaited in the sabha hall, eager to honour him enthusiastically. However,
Swamishri began the day with silent service.
Even on his birthday
Swamishri seized the opportunity of doing seva like a celebration. Seva
is his life. He always believes himself to be a sevak of Maharaj and
His bhaktas.
Swamishri’s greatness
lies in his spirit of service. |
