It
was the hot summer month of Vaishakh. Swami Bapa was in the village
of Karchaliya. He was going from house to house to visit each of the
devotees in the village. It was mid-day. Because of the scorching heat
of the sun Swami Bapa’s forehead was dripping with sweat.
Then, Swami Bapa came to one house where a large crowd had already gathered.
The owner of the house said, “Bapa, in my house there is a miraculous
photograph of you. Everyday almost a full glass of water drips down
from the photograph. People from everywhere have been rushing here to
see for themselves.”
Swami Bapa dismissed
the story, saying, “Ranchhodbhai! That water is useless.”
He wiped the sweat from his brow and continued, ‘‘Only ‘this
water’ is useful.”
Swamishri teaches us
that God helps those who help themselves. There is no alternative to
physical effort for success. If we don’t put any effort in school,
we shouldn’t expect any miracles to happen when our report card
comes in the mail. |
