Opportunity

Swamiji was on a visit to Mumbai. A grand programme was organized on the occasion of Yuva Din. There were many events in the programme. There was also a lecture given on the importance of SEVA. The event was about to start. But in the hall the throne for Thakorji, the mattresses for the sadhus were not yet arranged properly. They were lying all over the place. The coordinator arrived and saw all this. He realized that no volunteers had come to arrange the necessary things. All of them had neglected their duties. Thinking so he went and stood in a corner. Then one by one the volunteers and the participants came to the place. They also noticed that the hall was not arranged properly and started blaming each other.
When the lecture on seva finished, everyone got up to leave. Swamishiri also rose to leave, but instead of going to the lift, he made his way to Thakorji’s throne. The throne and its surroundings were untidy. Swamishri spoke softly, “Let’s do the seva first, we can leave later. We should do the seva even if the others do not do it.” Saying so, he bent down and carefully arranged all the things. He arranged Thakorji’s throne neatly and properly. He also arranged Thakorji’s garments. While they were leaving the attendant sadhu said, “Why did you perform the seva Swamishri?”
Swamishri replied, “If we who are responsible do not do the seva, then how will others learn?” Even at an advanced age Swamishri  never gives up an opportunity to do seva.
