All That We Do Will Shine

Pramukh Swami Maharaj was once in the town of Kadi. It was evening time, and so everyone had gathered for arti.
Satyaprakash Swami, who was with Swamishri at the time, was lighting the five wicks that adorned the arti. But the wind wouldn’t let him have his way. As he lit one wick and attempted to light another, the first wick would blow out. As he relit the first, the second would blow out.

While he continued trying to light the wicks, Swamishri looked on.

“Bring all five wicks together and light them at once,” Swamishri said, lightly.

Satyaprakash Swami did as Swamishri said. As the five wicks came together under the fire, their flames grew large, snuffing out the effect of the wind.

Seizing the moment, Swamishri remarked, “If we stay united like these wicks, if we remain one, then all the work that we set out to do will shine brilliantly. The winds of maya won’t be able to touch us.”

What a great lesson! And what a great example Swamishri used to teach it.

Swamishri’s motto on unity is: Learn to work with others. Never be stubborn. Tolerate and work hard for others.

Swamishri loves unity, for he experiences peace when all are united. Unity truly pleases him from within.

INSPIRATION: We should also try to please Swamishri by remaining united.
