In 1985, Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s Survana Tula Mahotsav was celebrated at the Queens Park Rangers Stadium in London. Over 17,000 people attended. Swamishri, with Harikrishna Maharaj, sat on one side of a scale and was weighed against sugar crystals. Then the sugar crystals (being the same weight as Swamishri) were weighed against gold. The “Jai” was hailed from every direction to celebrate this great occasion.
No one had ever been honoured like this in England. With such a great honour, who would not feel proud? For Swamishri, however, it was as if nothing important was going on at all. He sat there calm and unaffected.
The next day, a man came to meet Swamishri. He looked angry. Because of some prior misunderstanding, he started yelling at Swamishri. He was using words that should never be used, and that too, in front of Swamishri! The other sadhus and youths started to get upset, but Bapa told all of them to remain calm. He remained calm himself. After all, he is the idol of forgiveness! He let the devotee finish what he had to say and then told his attendant sadhu, “Make sure you feed him before he leaves.”
Everyone was stunned at this statement. People usually seek to revenge those who insult them. Swamishri, however, is an ocean of compassion. He remains unaffected in honour or insult. If someone swears at him or sings his praises, he remains unchanged.
God resides in such a Satpurush. This type of Satpurush sustains the whole world (Vachanamrut Gadhada I-27).
INSPIRATION: If someone praises you, do not become proud. If someone insults you, even in the mandir, do not get upset or feel bad.
