Everyone can get good comforts in this world, even animals get them. It’s easy to attain honour, status and fame. You can even become a minister and have thousands of people queue up to garland you. All this and more, but it’s not the fruit of having this human body. The jiva has been immersed in such pleasures for infinite births.

What’s the special fruit of the mango tree? Mangoes. Otherwise leaves, bark and shade can be found on other trees too. But just as mangoes are only found on a mango tree, similarly, if one develops bhakti in one’s heart, then one’s evil instincts will be dissolved and one attains redemption - that is the fruit of this body. Day and night we strive to earn more money, yet if we made a similiar effort to remove our bad qualities they would certainly be eradicated. But we lose heart by thinking, ‘These worldly pleasures don’t seem to be getting any weaker, will I ever succeed?’ But we should never become disheartened. Be determined.
