Need for Mandirs

Need for Mandirs

“Many people argue that mandirs are a waste of time and money. Do we need them? The answer is yes. We do need them. Our community needs schools, because we have to fight illiteracy. We need hospitals, physicians, police officers, politicians, educators and armed forces, because they all serve a purpose. Similarly, mandirs serve a purpose. They pacify the mind and soul. They provide peace. Students would have a tough time learning if we didn’t have schools. Similarly, where is one to worship God if we don’t have mandirs? Mandirs are needed as a haven for spirituality. India has survived centuries of aggression because of mandirs.”

“Mandirs teach morality and values. One can go for God’s darshan in mandirs. Mandirs instill spirituality, ethical behaviour and compassion. We have to have faith. Mandirs, religion and our scriptures are all necessary. We have to learn to live a pious and harmonious life. That will help us become better as individuals, families and communities. If we look after our culture and religion, they will look after us.”
