Lightening the Load of Others

Lightening the Load of Others

Late on a cold winter night in 1977, Swamishri arrived in Ahmedabad with a few sadhus and youths. As everyone was getting ready to sleep, Narendraprasad Swami was looking for a blanket for a sick youth, Jagdish (presently, Narayancharan Swami – Swamishri’s personal attendant sadhu) had a fever and couldn’t tolerate the bitter cold. It was already midnight and Narendraprasad Swami couldn’t find an extra blanket anywhere. A few moments later, Swamishri walked into the room where the youths were sleeping, gave Jagdish a blanket and left. Only at dawn did everyone realize that Swamishri had given his own blanket and he himself had used only his thin upper garment for cover from the biting cold.

Swamishri willingly tolerates difficulties to lighten the load on others.
