As children, we face many challenges that need to be solved and choices that need to be made. We often question things that we do not understand. Swamishri has always paid close attention to our concerns and has answered difficult questions to our satisfaction.  Let’s read a few incidents in which Swamishri has taken the time to answer the questions of balaks.

“We call ourselves atma (the soul), what does this mean?” asked a balak.

Swamishri answered, “It is the immortal form of who we are, which when it leaves the body, the body dies.  We cannot see this form but it allows our body to function… this form is called the atma. Our atma is where Shriji Maharaj resides.  We should follow the example of the Satpurush when living our lives. To keep Shriji Maharaj in our atma, we must make the right decisions everyday.”

Two balaks in Gondal entered Swamishri’s room and asked, “Bapa, what do you experience when you perform arti in the Akshar Deri?”  Swamishri was in a rush, but he still took the time to answer their question.

“I have darshan of Bhagwan as if He is physically present.  Just as you are standing in front of me and you are talking to me, that is how I see Bhagwan and experience Him!”

One Balak asked, “Swami! What does Brahma mean?”

Swamishri replied, “It means taking away our bad qualities (dosh) and attachments (vasana).  It means becoming Bhagwan’s devotee and becoming happy.  It is when the worldly pleasures are no longer to your liking. It is when the pain and suffering of the world dissolve and you experience God’s happiness (sukh).”

Regardless of how busy Swamishri may be and how simple or difficult a question we may ask, Swamishri will always take the time to answer our questions and quench our thirst for knowledge. In the above three incidents, balaks asked Swamishri a series of difficult questions, yet Swamishri did not dismiss them due to their complex nature.  Nor did he give just any old answer for the sake of answering the questions, thinking the balaks won’t understand the answers anyway.  He answered each question with satisfaction and simplicity, thatso even children like us can understand difficult concepts.  Swamishri truly displays his talent of the natural teacher he is.
