A youth came with a problem to Swamishri.
“I belong to a Brahmin family. I have a five-year-old boy ready to be enrolled for school. I desire to have him groomed in Sanskrit and make him into a scholar. For this I wish to send him to Kashi. But my wife and other relatives think otherwise. They strongly oppose my view. However, I sincerely believe that learning a language does not obstruct one’s career. So I am for the learning of rituals and other knowledge in Sanskrit. But with my family’s opposition tell me what should I do.”
After patiently hearing the youth Swamishri advised, “For the present let him learn at school. Then for his undergraduation you can enroll him for BA in Sanskrit. Then after that he can do a course on rituals. In this way your wish and theirs will be satisfied.”
Swamishri’s advice resolved the issue in an amicable way, satisfying both members of the family.
