Care For Standards

Swamishri inaugurated the four-storey guesthouse built opposite the BAPS mandir in Anand. Then he visited all the four floors and sanctified the rooms. While inspecting the construction Swamishri enquired about the height of the staircase steps. The architect and engineer who had designed and built the guesthouse replied that they were six inches high. Swamishri was sceptical about their reply, but remained quiet. However, a little while later he asked, “Don’t you think they are a little too high?” The officials replied confidently, “No, they are six inches high.” Again Swamishri remained silent and looked questioningly at the steps. Immediately a measuring tape was brought and the steps were found to be 6.75 inches high. Swamishri advised, “Today people make 5 inch high steps. And that is how high they should be.”

Swamishri’s eye for standards and care for the devotees’ comfort are noteworthy.
