The foyer was packed, with everyone eagerly awaiting the day's last darshan of Swamishri. The door of Swamishri's room opened, and Swamishri came into view. A chorus of 'Jai's' greeted him. Then to the rhythmic tune of a plate-and-spoon band, Kanu Barot and Ashok Daliya made their way from the middle of the foyer upto where Swamishri was standing. As they carefully sidestepped the seated devotees they sang,
"Dhari amara Shriji Bhagwan, tilak-chandlo emni olkhan;

Muki sharam ne thai naram, pãlishu ame Niyam-dharam..."

(Our master is Shriji Maharaj, His trademark is the tilak-chandlo. We will overcome our shyness, be humble and observe our codes of conduct.)

When they reached Swamishri, they pulled out a bag full of tilak-chandlo sets. They announced, "Anybody who wants one can come and receive one from Swamishri himself!"

Slowly, one-by-one, many came to Swamishri to collect their set. Reinforcing their commitment Swamishri said to everyone, "This is for life. Now there should be no need to remind you."

Swamishri's stay in London was memorable for many reasons. But the intensity and love with which he encouraged and inspired young and old alike to apply tilak-chandlo daily was especially memorable. And the devotees, too, responded to this innermost wish of Swamishri and readily accepted his wish.
