Not So Much

Not So Much

A teenager who had been helping at Swamishri's residence was due to start college. So, he came to Swamishri to seek his leave and blessings.

Just two days previously, he had suffered an accident. Swamishri gave him some caring and loving advice: "Now be extra careful! Don't rush around. Stop at the traffic lights." Then Swamishri asked, "How much T.V. do you watch?"

"Three-four hours!" he replied frankly.

"Oh! What do they show that you watch so much? Do they show anything about Maharaj?" Then, changing his tone of voice, Swamishri rebuked him, "You're silly to watch such unnecessary things. If you want to watch sports that's fine. But only for half an hour. No more! Now take a vow."

The teenager agreed.

Checking, Swamishri asked, "You will be able to observe this commitment, won't you? If you watch five minutes over the half-hour, you'll have to observe a fast! Now, only if you can do that, take this vow."

Their eyes met and the teenager boldly and willingly decided, "Yes, I'll be able to do it."

Swamishri blessed him before he departed.
