12 December 1984. The first anniversary of the Mumbai murti-pratishtha had just been celebrated. Swamishri came to his room for lunch, after which he held my hand as he made his way to retire for the afternoon.
Kanubhai Amin passed a comment, "Bapa, last year, just a day before the murti-pratishtha, a great yagna was held. The number of devotees and guests that were supposed to take part had unexpectedly doubled. That's when Shruti Swami cried out his frustration."
"What's there to cry about?" Swamishri began, "This is just the beginning. Problems never ran out in Shastriji Maharaj's or Yogiji Maharaj's lives. Always challenges. If you look at their lives, their efforts, you'll realize how little we actually do. In comparison, it seems as if we're just playing around."
Swamishri's efforts have been no less, but he chose to give the example of his Gurus. He taught me about their sufferings and taught me a lesson in guru bhakti too. Swamishri managed to let a gushing spirit of seva spring forth from my heart.
