The Past:
On 3 March 1970, Yogiji Maharaj was in Jinja, Uganda. At that time, Narendrabhai Patel, a devotee came to him and confessed that in spite of being born into a satsangi family, no sadhu had given him a kanthi to wear. This distressed him a lot.
Yogi Bapa looked in his eyes and told him, “Your wish will be fulfilled by Pramukh Swami Maharaj”.
Then, 11 years later in 1981, Narendrabhai met Swamibapa at his friend Jashbhai Patel’s house in Ahmedabad. He garlanded Bapa and Bapa personally placed a kanthi around his neck.
Bapa told him, “Today I am fulfilling the promise that my guru had made to you…”
Friends, until that day, Swamibapa had never met Narendrabhai. He didn’t even know who he was and neither had he been told about Yogi Bapa’s promise to Narendrabhai. But even then, Swamishri fulfilled Yogi Bapa’s words and referred to that promise.
The Present:
In 1984, a devotee from Valsad was visiting America. He decided to call Swamibapa, who was in London. First, the devotee spoke to Viveksagar Swami for about five minutes and then Viveksagar Swami passed on the phone to Bapa.
Even before the devotee could utter a word, Swamishri said, “Friend, drink less. I can smell it here!”
Just imagine, Swamibapa was in London, thousands of miles away from the devotee. But still, he knew that the devotee had been drinking.
The Future:
Ramanbhai Patel had migrated and settled with his family in Jinja, Uganda. In the spring of 1971, his work permit was due to expire. So, he wrote a letter to Swamibapa who was in India and asked him whether he should renew his permit and stay in Jinja, migrate to London, or return to India.
Swamishri replied saying: “Bad times lie ahead. Sell all your belongings and go to London.”
Following Swamishri’s command, Ramanbhai along with his family arrived in London by August 1971. Exactly a year later, in August 1972, Idi Amin, the President of Uganda ousted all Ugandan Asians. People had to leave behind their jobs, jewellery, houses, property – everything. But, due to Swamishri’s grace, Ramanbhai and his family were safe.
Friends, one may think for a while, “Is this true?”
How come Swamishri knows all?
Well, this is 100% true and Swamishri knows all of this because he is antaryami – he resides in everyone and everything.
So we must always remember that whatever we do, Bapa is always watching us. He knows when we follow niyams, study well, help our parents and so on and is pleased with us. He also knows when we lie, steal or fight with anyone and this displeases him. So, do keep in mind to do whatever pleases him because he is antaryami.
