Three youths went for Swamishri's blessings. One of them said, "I am a law student. Please bless me that I do well in my studies."

Swamishri blessed the youngster and asked him, "Do you have any addictions?

"I sometimes take alcoholic drinks when I go out with friends," the youth admitted.

"Are you forced to drink?" inquired Swamishri.

"Not really," replied the youth. "I just join in because all my friends drink."

"Would you join in and take poison if all your friends did?" countered Swamishri.

"Of course not, Swamiji," the youth replied.

"Well then," said Swamishri, "alcohol is nothing but poison. People drink for sophistication and sociability but they become argumentative and obnoxious." The youth listened attentively as Swamishri continued. "You are an intelligent law student. But there is another Law - the Law of God - which forbids alcoholic drinks and other intoxicants. From today, take a vow to observe this Law of God."

The youth realized his mistake and vowed never to take another drink.
