We’ve all come to please God

We’ve all come to please God

With Swamishri recovering steadily after his bypass operation, the doctors had given permission for Swamishri to go outside to a nearby park or coastline for a change from the routine.

So, this evening Swamishri, along with just a handful of sadhus and devotees went to the nearby Playland Park, located near the Atlantic Ocean.

Swamishri had put on a woolen cap and warm shawl. While he walked towards the ocean, Swamishri paused, bowed down in reverence to the ocean and said, "Reverence to the ocean god, reverence to the ocean god...." After arti and kirtans, Swamishri began to explain,

"We've all come to please God. We all offer devotion, but what does He like? Understand His ways, His advice and opinions, and you will constantly feel His presence and experience inner joy. If this is not realized, if His true form is not understood, if His wishes are not practiced, then one may be physically close to Him, but it is meaningless.

"We should be continually happy and enthusiastic. We are really fortunate that we have the company of the Lord, Shriji Maharaj. This feeling of joy should remain with us all day, just like Yogiji Maharaj.

"Highlighting other people's drawbacks, and our own faulty nature prevent us from experiencing the true joy of Satsang. Then we feel that Satsang is shallow, that God is false, and that His holy sadhu is false. But no. It is our nature that is in the wrong. Satsang is true and so are God and His holy sadhu. But our nature prevents us from enjoying everything.
