Inspiring Qualities of Shastrji Maharaj
Shastriji Maharaj, born in Mahelav on Vasant Panchmi, was the third spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and in 1907 he formally established the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). Known as Dungar Bhakta in childhood, from a young age he had strong faith in Bhagwan Swaminarayan, his philosophy and his spiritual successors.
Shastriji Maharaj’s true conviction was displayed in the way he lived his life, even as a child. For example, one dark night, he went out to the family farm on the village outskirts. Though all of the village children were scared to walk down the dimly lit dust path to the fields, Dungar Bhakta was not afraid. When his father asked him why he was not afraid, Dungar Bhakta replied that he had nothing to fear since he was chanting the Swaminarayan mantra.

Yagnapurshdas was so great and humble. He had so many characteristics that made him so divine. During the time he lived he went through so many difficulties but still he did not give up and spread the AksharPurushotsmUpasna. Today we can see how much he did just for us and today look at what we have. From all of this we can take a step further by imbibing this in our life and slowly going closer to our ultimate goal which is Akshardham.

Jai Swaminarayan, ShastijiMaharaj had all good qualities in him. The best quality of him I love is his unbreakable upasana of AksharpurshottamMaharaj. He had struggled a lot for spreading the glory of AksharpurshottamMaharaj. He was beaten a lot and even he was given poison in food etc, but he didn’t care, he just tolerated everything.

The quality of shastrijimaharaj that inspires me the most is probably his persistence because although there were so many people against him he kept on going for what was the truth people literally tried to kill him but that did not stop him from fighting for the truth and his beliefs so I think that this is a very important quality in life.and we should learn from our guru to stick for baps,our religion and our beliefs no matter what the hurdles in between and we should try and get shastrijimaharaj's message to every corner of the universe.

ShastrijiMaharaj was born in Mahelav.His childhood name was Dunger Bhagath. One dark night his father,whenDungerBhagat was asleep he went through the jungle to his farm.ThenDungerBhagat woke up and saw his father was not there.So he took his mala and went through the jungle,and inside the jungle he saw snakes and other kind of wild animals. But he kept on saying swaminarayan,swaminarayan and he came to his father and his father was surprised and he said son weren't you scared? No he said I just said swaminarayan and I came here.So the moral of the story is not to fear if you know bhagwan is s with you!
