Travelling with Niyams

Our gurus have done countless hours of vicharan. As children, we also travel or go on vacations with our families. Describe one incident where you maintained your niyams, even though you were away from home.

following niyams when you are travelling is very difficult. but we always try to maintain we do not break those niyams. when i went for camping with my school friends, i had a very difficult time. the main problem was food. everyone forced me to eat food with onion garlic but i did not eat. finally i just ate salad. this was the time when i realised that following niyams is a great time.

Jai Swaminarayan, When I went on holiday to Dubai, one of the days it was Ekadashi. I still obeyed my niyam of doing Ekadashi and had farari food. Every Ekadashi I remember the childhood prasang of Shantial and how he maintained his niyam, even though he was being offered delicious items of food. This inspires me to always keep my niyams. When I'm abraod, I always still do my daily puja. Niyams play a really important part in my life because it keeps me on the right path, all the way to Akshardham.

jay swaminarayan!! we all love to please maharaj and our beloved mahant swami. one the ways is by following niyams. being a satsangi i believe that we should try following our niyams when we are travelling. when i went for a camp, i could not have facilities to bath and therefor i could not do puja. but i requested and i was able to follow the niyams. at that time there was also problem with my food. but i just took food from home that helped me to stay firm with the niyam prescribed in the shikshapatri to not eat onion and garlic.

Jay Swaminarayan Once my family and I went to the Dominican Republic with one other family. Both families were satsangis. It was very hard to find Indian food. most desserts had eggs. But even though we had so many struggles we still made sure to maintain our niyams.

My family and I love to go on vacations and we go once a year. Last year we went to an amazing place called Tobermory and we had little food. so even though we had no food we survived a whole day full of mountain climbing and I had the option to eat from the hotel but I didn't because of it had onion and garlic. this is one way I kept my niyam to Maharaj. Jay Swaminarayan.

Jai Swaminarayan Swami loves niyam dharma and satsangis who follow them truly. we do travel but one thing my parents and myself never miss is Ghar Sabha. Where ever we go. in 2014, we went to India for Darshan Yatra with group of 125 but we didnt miss our Ghar sabha even in Evening flight to India. Since then it is habit even if we reach home after 1 -2 am from outing within city, i would remind my mom to do gharsabha. I love listening to Swami's prasangs and tell a prasang as well.

One time when I was 8 years old my family went to Florida. One of the days that we were there it was ekadashi. All of my cousins and most of my mom's side family are not satsangi , so they ate everything and did not do ekadashi. Despite this I did ekadashi the whole day and did not complain. I followed my niyam.

Jay swaminarayan! When I went to Hawaii, we had quite a time. One incident was about my puja. So we had this little house, well, it was pretty big. Whenever I tried to do my puja, I would always be distracted by something like food or the conversations going on around me. But I tried my best and thanks to maharaj's krupa, I learned to keep my mind on Maharaj.

The most important and difficult niyam to observe when we are away from home is the niyam of ahar shuddhi. When we go out on school trips, we have to make sure whatever we are eating is pure and without onion and garlic, and sometimes i have to survive on fruits and snacks because not all the food provided is pure. Also, Puja is important when we are away from home, when i do Puja on school trips all the students gather around me to see my Puja. Since swamishri, despite all the difficulties he has faced, doesn't forget his niyams we as well need to follow our niyams strongly. Jai Swaminarayan.

In a transaction flight I had to wait for 5.5 hours at Mumbai airport and it was in morning and I usually do my Puja at that day hence I did my Puja at the airport in a restaurant. In Langkawi, there were no restaurants in Langkawi without onions and garlic so me and my family bought bread and butter and ate the food.

Jay Swaminarayan I have a niyam of not drinking soda or cold drinks. In the summer break, I went to six flags in America. When we went in, it was really hot and we did not have water. We had hot water and the break stations were far away. When we went to the break station there were cold drinks. Everyone was drinking cold drinks but I didn't because of the niyam. I controlled myself by remembering Bhagwan. I just drank water the whole time when other people were drinking cold drinks. This is the niyam that i kept even if I went on vacation because of the strength that maharaj gave me Jay swaminarayan

Jai Swaminarayan. Once my family and I were in Dubai and on the way back from India. We stayed at a hotel with many different restaurants that don't put eggs, onions, garlic, or meat in their food but we restrained ourselves. We knew if we ate the food, we will break our niyam and make Maharaj, Swami, and Mahant Swami Maharaj sad. So we went to the store and bought food and made it in the hotel. Jai Swaminarayan.

Jai Swaminarayan, Since the past 2 years, my family and I have decided to take up a niyam to please Bapa, the niyam of not eating outside food. Traveling in India by road can be very draining. It usually demands frequent meals during the long journey. Despite the tiring journey, we kept to any food that we brought from home and did not stop to eat in the enticing restaurants. I remember Bapa and his loving smile everytime we crave to eat at a restaurant. Jai Swaminarayan Khushi Kalathiya (12)

I was at camp and we only had a few showers and limited time to eat breakfast. So knowing I had to do puja in the morning, I would get up earlier, brush my teeth and have my shower and would do my puja in my room. Then I would join everyone else in breakfast and ask and/or check the ingredients in the food and would do the same for lunch/dinner.

I went to my relative's house with my family. One day I woke up in the morning and my parents were not at home. My cousin had swimming in the morning. I wanted to go with her, so my auntie told me to have breakfast but I told her that I can't eat anything without having shower and doing Puja. My aunt told me it's alright to eat one day, but I told her that I will not eat anything until I do my puja. So I went with my cousin and came back from swimming and had shower and did puja then had breakfast at 11:30 am.
