    My Most Memorable Yatra

My Most Memorable Yatra

An important ritual in Hinduism is the practice of visiting places that are important to our religion. Many of these places are found in India. Such places could include Bhagwan or our gurus’ birthplaces – such as Ayodhya, Chhapaiya or Chansad – or important mandirs – such as Sarangpur, Bochasan, or Badrinath in the Himalayas. Trips to such places are called yatras.

Have you ever been on a yatra? Where did you go and what did you enjoy about your trip? Is there anything specific you remember seeing? Describe your experience in as many words as you can!

In 2022, when I came to India, I visited the Gondal mandir. I had never been there so it was a first time experience. As soon as I entered the Akshar Deri, I was amazed. While I was doing pradakishnas, I felt so calm and peaceful like I had never felt before. I also visited the Yogi Smruti Mandir. I saw pictures of Yogi Bapa and how much he has done for our sanstha, especially starting Bal-Balika sabha.

I can still remember that my best yatra so far, was in 2018 when Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj came to Australia and New Zealand and blessed all of us. He came with a trip that lasted, 71 days, (The vicharan included cities like Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, Auckland, and Wellington) Today I will explain some prasangs of my smruti I remember every day. "Unflinching Bhakti" Swamishri landed in Melbourne on the 5TH FEBRUARY 2018 via Singapore's Changi Airport. Swamishri's scheduled time was 9:30pm Melbourne time however swami's flight was delayed and swamishri landed at midnight making things uncomfortable for Mahant Swami Maharaj. Landing at his utaro at 2:28 am on the 6th of February. Despite, the uncomfortable situtation Swamishri was still giving darshan and satisfying the will of hundreds of devotees. The next day, during his puja everyone had forgotten to do the arti however, Swamishri didn't forget even though he had very little sleep. This showed me that when coming closer to Mahant Swami Maharaj does not become lazy and forget about arti, he lives for bhagwan. JAY SWAMINARAYAN

I have been on lots of yatras around India - and a lot of walking was required! The whole country was buzzing with energy, and the temples were massive! There was so much to see, that I couldn’t stop looking in every direction!

Last year I went to Sarangpur, Gadhada, Gonal and Dehli Akshardham. When I went to Gondal Akshar deri I was amazed, I felt the real connection to Gunatitanand Swami. Pramukh Swami Maharaj's smruti mandir in Sarangpur was filled with the things Bapa used in his lifetime. The place where Bhagwan Swaminarayan stayed, Gadhada the moment I steeped in the mandir my whole body felt relaxed. In Dehli Akshardham the murti of Swaminarayan Bhagwan bought the feeling of being with Bhagwan himself in Akshardham.

My most memorable yatra would be when my family and I all went to the different BAPS mandirs around India, some of them being Sarangpur, Gadhada, Gondal and New Delhli Akshardham. Just entering the mandir compound filled me with peace and happiness.
