Bal Vikas Parva
New Delhi, India

6 - 7 July 2012

About 180 balaks and balikas gathered in Delhi on July 6th and 7th for this year’s Bal Vikas Parva. The topic of the shibir was “Adarsh”. During this shibir, balaks and balikas learned how they can be adarsh, or ideal, in satsang, in their studies, and at home.

The first day of the shibir was packed with colourful skits, games, video shows, discussions and inspiring speeches from Pujya Santo. In particular, the balaks and balikas learned about six agnas Swamishri has given especially for children:

  1. Do puja daily.
  2. Respect parents.
  3. Avoid bad books, television and company.
  4. Study hard.
  5. Read satsang books daily.
  6. Attend satsang sabha regularly.

The balaks and balikas vowed to live by these wishes of Swamishri.

The next day, the children visited Rashtrapati Bhavan, the home of the President of India. Here, they visited Ashoka Hall, where the President holds state dinners; Darbar Bhavan, where the President takes the oath of office; Mughal Garden, beautiful landscapes created in Mughal style; and Ancient Marble Hall, an exhibit on India’s history and culture.

The children left the shibir with newfound pride both in their faith and in their country.
