During the holy month of Shravan (July-August) thousands of balaks, balikas and their karyakars from over 4,000 BAPS centers in India and abroad organized three-day parayans under the guidance of the ‘Bal Pravrutti Madhystha Karyalay’ in Ahmedabad.
This year’s parayan was based on the theme of ‘Sahajanand Charitra’. The parayan sessions featured readings from the Harililamrut, which is one of the most important shastras of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya and describes the divine life of Shriji Maharaj in poetic verses. Also, the inspiring stories of some of Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s sadhus and devotees were depicted through dramas, mono-acts, and dances. Enlightening video presentations on Shriji Maharajs life and work were shown as well.
At the start of the parayan the children would organize a small procession in honour of the shastra during which the children would devoutly sing dhun and bhajans.
The balaks and balikas also participated in various competitions held to encourage them to develop their creative talents in art and design by making hindolas, artis, and drawings. On the final day the children offered their bhakti to Thakorji by offering an annakut of upto 100 vegetarian food items.
The parayans were graced by the presence of sadhus from the local mandirs, who blessed and inspired the children through their enlightening speeches.
In this way the balaks, balikas and their karyakars offered their bhakti to Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
