North India Winter Shibir – TRANSCENDENCE
New Delhi, India

4 to 6 January 2016

New Delhi, January 6, 2016– A special gathering of 130 selected boys and girls was held at Swaminarayan Akshardham from 4-6 January 2016. Themed “Transcendence” after the book written by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the shibir focused on a message of four inspirational S’s that were present in the life of Dr. Kalam and are still seen in the life of guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The 4 S’s highlighted were simplicity, studiousness, spirituality and the Satpurush.

The sadhus from Akshardham as well as informed volunteers gave guidance to the children on the four subjects with a special emphasis on sharing incidents from the lives of Swamishri, Dr. Kalam and other great men and women. The same messages were also supported with activities, skits and videos. For the session on studies, the children were taken to the Pathways World School, an institute renowned throughout India for its educational services. The schools remote hilltop campus and modern equipment made learning about studies more engaging and effective.

At the end of the shibir, the attendees reflected on all that they had learned and took special vows in honour of guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s upcoming centenary celebrations.
