Balika parayans are organized annually to foster strong satsang values and beliefs within the female youth of BAPS. Furthermore, balika parayans serve as a powerful medium for younger generations to understand the importance of satsang, and as a way in which they can develop a steadfast connection with the Satpurush.

On 20 August, 2017 at the Shahibaug Mandir in Ahmedabad, over 3000 Balika, 1200 women devotees and 400 volunteers from all parts of Ahmedabad attended this event. Themed “Guru ni Avashyakta,” or “The Importance of a Guru,” this year’s balika parayan was celebrated through engaging skits dances, and Vachanamrut and Swamini Vato quotation recitation, which were all performed and executed by the energetic and vibrant youth of BAPS.

The program was focused on three significant questions: “Which characteristics should an ideal Guru have? How can we find how can we identify such a Guru? And in this world, who is this Guru for us?” In order for balikas to understand the integral role that Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj play in their own lives, and how they can reciprocate the unconditional love that their Gurus have given them, topics such as Mahima of a Guru, Guru’s Agna, and Importance of Moral Living were discussed. This was to ensure that each attendee, after going to their own home, begins to live a life in alignment with their Gurus’ wish.

As the parayan drew to a close, all balikas in attendance expressed a strong desire to instill a positive change in their lives by vowing to take various vows such as: wearing a chandlo daily, bowing down to their parents and elders every morning, and chanting one rosary of the Swaminarayan mantra before sleeping each night, all to earn the rajipo of their beloved Gurus. Thus, creating the foundation of an everlasting and unbreakable bond with Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj.
