Parents Day
25 May 2013, Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania

Over 800 people attended the Parents Day held in Dar-Es-Salaam in May this year. Parents and children were entertained, educated, and enlightened about the importance of parent-child relationships and how those relationships can be nurtured.

Highlights from the program include a presentation of inspiring incidents from Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s life, a dance on “Mara Swamini Thaye Vaah Vaah” performed by the shishu mandal, recitations of the Vachanamrut by balaks, another dance performed by the balaks, a lecture on “Balanced Parents” and a video presentation titled “Pita Aflatoon”. The main points of the day were emphasized in a session of group discussions as well in which parents divided into small groups to discuss how they might better spend their time with their children. Children who achieved exceptional marks in the Sanstha’a Bal Satsang Exams were also recognized at the function. Worthy of special note was Yogesh Parmar, who earned 99% in last year’s exams and was ranked first in the world. These exceptional children along with all those that participated in the exams were awarded gifts as well – with high achievers receiving special schoolbags while others received compass boxes or a pair of pens based on their age.

All in all, the event was a great success with a record number of attendees. The children came and enjoyed watching their peers perform and the parents experienced their dedication to active parenting and nurturing their children be reinvigorated.
