Nairobi, Kenya. The Balika Mandal of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Nairobi organized a three day balika parayan from the 6th to 8th September. The theme for this year’s parayan in Nairobi was “Bhakta Charitam,” during which the balikas performed skits sharing the lives of satsangis from the time of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Along with the skits, the girls performed dances and enjoyed watching interesting videos on the lives of Maharaj’s devotees. The parayan was an inspirational as it was entertaining as the devotees of Maharaj taught the principles of niyam, nischay, and paksha through their lives – inspiring everyone present to grow firm in their vows, faith, and loyalty to God and the Satpurush. On the final day of the parayan a “Pothi Yatra” was held in which women of all ages took part by carrying scriptures wrapped in cloth on their heads as a means of showing their respect.
In total, 250 women attended the parayan. Such programs provide an invaluable platform for the girls to increase their involvement with Satsang and also exhibit their skills and gain confidence.
