Children's Diwali Celebration
Sunday, 24 November 2012
Adelaide, Australia

Diwali is one of the most enjoyable occasions in the year for Hindus all over the world. It is a time for family gatherings and celebration of the New Year.

Diwali is also a time when children excitedly look forward to the fun and joy that the festival brings.

BAPS Bal - Balika Mandal in Adelaide held a Children’s Diwali Celebration on Sunday, 24 November 2012 complete with games, gifts and a magic show. It was a thoroughly fun - filled event. There were live exhibits displaying Rangoli (colourful designs done on the floor of doorways and entrances), Mehndi (“henna” designs done on hands) and other customs about Diwali. Children also learned about Hindu traditions in an interactive and interesting way. The Diwali Celebration was a learning experience as well as a fun – filled event for the 150 boys and girls. Many vowed to attend bal – balika sabha every Sunday whilst others were inspired to bow down to parents, keep away from bad company and study sincerely.
