On Sunday, 25 November 2012, a Children’s Diwali Celebration was held at BAPS ShriSwaminarayanMandir, Auckland, New Zealand. The event was held from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The celebration was organised more like a carnival with various activities and presentations throughout the day. The carnival featured a bouncy castle, a balloon twister, face painting and other fun activities such as balloon and dart, tennis ball and can, pin the tail, cup building, tenpin bowling and mini basketball. Many parents also came with their kids to join in with the fun and games. This helped the families to bond together. Stalls were set up for the different activities. The carnival also featured a food stall and a candy- floss machine where the balaks and balika’s were able to purchase food items. The highlight of the day was a magic show which was very funny andentertaining. The carnival atmosphere was full of fun and the balaks and balikas enjoyed the day thoroughly. They also learnt about the Diwali festival in a fun way and vowed to come to the mandir more often. More than 250 kids and their parents participated in the event.
