On September 14th and 15th 2013, the balaks, from ages six to fourteen, of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Edison, NJ performed a stage program titled "Ek Raat Re...In Search of a True Hero" showcasing important life values through bhajans, dances, skits and a 44-minute drama portraying kids in realistic scenarios. More exceptionally, the balaks and kishores developed the program themselves from scripting and recording to acting and performing. The program sought to instill many important messages about shikshan, seva, and shraddha. Children also learned the value of unity as the balaks and kishores worked together as a team for months to prepare this effective program. Balikas and kishoris worked together as well to decorate the foyers, corridors and halls. Along with the lessons for the children there was a message for the parents as well. They were reminded that they play an important and critical part in forming their children's morality; their involvement in their children's lives is crucial.
